As if you had any doubt, the CatEye Strada Smart Bundle proves just how smart your smartphone can be. The Bluetooth-enabled Strada Smart connects with your smartphone through the CatEye Cycling App. The Strada Smart is mounted on your handlebar or stem, while the smartphone is stashed out of harm’s way in a pocket during your ride. In Mirror Mode, the App records ride data via the smartphone’s GPS capability and transmits a copy to the Strada Smart for display. Phone call and email alert icons, too, are displayed. All the while your phone is kept in sleep mode, preserving the battery. The Strada Smart Bundle includes CatEye’s Bluetooth Smart-enabled speed/cadence sensor plus heart rate sensor strap for even more data gathering capacity and whose information is also displayed on the Strada Smart while in Mirror Mode. The Strada Smart is also compatible with Bluetooth Smart-enable power sensors, however this sensor is not included.
When smartphone use is not an option while riding, the Strada Smart’s Sensor Direct mode can be used as an alternative. Sensor Direct mode syncs the Strada Smart directly with the included cadence/speed and heart rate sensors, so important ride data is always available. As is the case in Mirror Mode, Bluetooth Smart-enable power sensors (not included) can be utilized in this mode as well. Once a ride is complete all of the data is uploaded from the App with a simple touch of a button to CatEye Atlas, Strava, and TrainingPeaks. Genius!
